MY STORY: my personal journey to Building a Life of Freedom
To give some background and to share a little of my own story: just over one year ago I was at a very different place in my life. In mid 2023 my life had hit a wall. I was in my late 50’s, worn out and undervalued at work after my company’s restructuring two years before. The stress and pressure was’nt just at work – it seemed to seep in to every corner of my life. By Summer I felt disconnected from my family and friends, my mental and physical health seemed to be deteriorating, and I knew something had to change. Then came the wake-up call – a sudden and serious one at that. In August a serious and very unanticipated medical diagnosis shook me to the core. Overnight, my focus shifted to treatment and survival – it had to as I had no other option. But my financial worries grew as my medical expenses increased and my extended time-out from my regular work played its part. An underperforming pension and past investment mistakes left me feeling uncertain about my future. I needed a way out, a solution, not just from work but from this entire cycle. I needed a plan especially where my finances were concerned.
